It is a common issue for the TDV6 engine to develop injector problems. One of two things can happen.

Either the injector gets stuck open forcing too much fuel into the combustion chamber or it stops firing all together which can starve the chamber of fuel.

This can cause the vehicle to do one or multiple of the following things.

  1. Misfire
  2. Bring the check engine warning light on
  3. Smoke out the exhaust
  4. Oil level to rise
  5. Cause the engine to run on
  6. Melted pistons if left for to long without rectifying it

These are not a huge drama to replace and considering the parts involved the cost is not to excessive. You are still looking at a couple of hours labor. Its important to replace the injector seals at the same time.

This is one of those repairs that whilst can be a bit of a pinch to the wallet, leaving it can cause catastrophic damage to the engine. A mild expense now can salve you literally tens of thousands of dollars if you end up needing to rebuild the motor because of melted pistons.

These injectors do not need to be codded to the vehicle so any competent mechanic will be able to carry out this repair for you without the need for the vehicle to go back to the dealership.
